Friendship Sunday April 22nd
Can you imagine a friend who actually helps you radically change the world as we know it? WOW! If ever you wondered what friendship is
really all about David and Jonathan can sure point us in the right direction....especially since they could well have been enemies from the start. Never mind having a friend that helps you change the world, what if you were a friend to someone who is "your opponent" Maybe that would really change the world we live in... (1 Samuel 18:1-4, 1 Samuel 19:1-4 and 1 Samuel 20 ) |

The Death of Death April 6th
The story of David's defeat of Goliath serves well as a way to remember what Christ did for us at the cross...but not perfectly. How is it different? What can we learn about the story of Jesus by looking at the way David overcame the giant? (1 Samuel 17:48-51)
|
Godly Talk April 1stAthletes, especially boxers love to engage in trash talking before a match. If you look closely, you will see that David and Goliath did their fair share too. But David actually engages in Godly talk too...so what is the difference, how can you tell and what is the purpose and goal of Godly talk? How is your speech when compared with trash talk and Godly talk?
(1 Samuel 17:41-48) |
Saul's Ill Fitting Armor March 25th
Can you imagine being forced into something that wasn't meant for you? How could you ever get anything done? How could you possibly do what you were created to do? Our friends and other ideas all around us can be ill fitting sometimes so where do we go where we can find out who we are and how we are to go through life with the very best fit for us and get doing what we are supposed to do?
|
Up Close and Personal March 18th
It's a challenge for all of us...having people in our comfort zone. It is easy to talk about life issues that affect all of us but are we able to speak the truth about how those issues affect us personally? Is God still a big and distant superpower or have you made a decision to speak about God and speak to God in a personal way?
|
Turning Away March 11th
Bullies. Who likes them? What do we do with them? How should we react and interact with them? Do they throw you off course in life? Want to know how to deal with them? DO you think you could love them?
(1 Sam 17:28-30) |
Two Questions March 4th
How big of an offer of wealth and freedom would you need before you put your life on the line in an attempt to have it? What if there was a way to get more than we could ever ask or imagine by simply growing in our relationship with God? What if everything that so consumes our time, energy and money was counted as rubbish? Do you think you could help others see that?
(1 Sam 17:23-27) |
Entitlement Issues Feb 19th
Teenagers (and everyone else for that matter) lately seem to think that the world owes them something. How often do we feel entitled to something and raise our voice to squawk about it? David sure didn't!
If anyone would have been entitled to entitlement issues, it would have been David but he had none. Ever wonder why? Should we have them? Why or why not... ( 1 Samuel 17:12-22) |
Exposing the Enemy Feb 5th
All we hear is bad, awful and terrible. It overshadows the good...or
does it? Just how big, how bad and the ugly is our biggest, ugliest and worst enemy? How do we know how big the threat really is? How can we come against what stands against us? How can we be assured that we will win? (1 Samuel 17:1-11) |

Waiting! Jan 29th
_
In a day and age when everything seems to be
available instantly and people want immediate gratification, its hard to be
patient. We cannot stand to wait. But what if life was really all about
waiting. Rather than complaining about
having to be patient, wouldn't it be great to be able to wait (read live)
well? Oh yeah...and what are we waiting
for anyway? (1 Samuel 16:14-23)

How Did That Happen? Jan 22nd
_ Ever wonder what
it takes to go from being a nothing, nowhere, nobody to someone whose has
"made it big"? Big news...its
not looks, its not money, its not brains and contrary to what realtors tell us,
its not location. The answer might surprise
you. Here is a hint...anyone and
everyone has been invited to participate in something bigger than themselves,
that will last longer than our
lives. Are you in? Find out! (1 Samuel 16:4-13) |
Pretty, Handsome or Beautiful Jan 15th
_Is beauty really only skin deep or is it an attractive appearance that is really what is so superficial? What is true beauty? How do we get it? Isn't it time we stopped being so shallow and stopped using how good people look to figure out whether or not they are of value...even if the only one we think of that way is ourselves?
|
_Saul: Self Importance gets you nowhere! Jan 8th
_Do you know people who God seems to have blessed beyond measure and
they tell you they are self made? Do you know people who go against what they promised because they stood to gain something when they compromise? What about people who bow to the court of public opinion when pressured? Not likely something we would admire in a politician today...definitely not something God approves of either - Saul found that out the hard way! |
